Make A Wish Foundation entertained over 2,000 people on the grounds of Mission Farms with their annual Hot Air Balloon Glow on September 26.  Over 10 balloons were tethered to the ground, but lighted after dark to create quite a spectacular!  The family-friendly event raised more than $11,000 for the Make-A-Wish Kansas City Program Center.  All proceeds will help grant wishes to Kansas City area children on both sides of the state line who are bravely battling life-threatening medical conditions. 

The first Leawood Battle of the Bands and Bonfire (sponsored by ARTichokes) will be at Mission Farms on Saturday, October 17.  Six bands will be selected to participate and given the opportunity to play on the Mission Farms outdoor stage.  It's not too late to enter...see www.mission-farms.com home page for entry details.  Dress warmly for the cool fall night which will be topped off with a bonfire.  Food and drink and family fun all under the moonlit sky from 6:00-9:30pm. Admission is free.    

Xiphium, the salon for hair, facials and nail care, will be collecting food for Harvesters Community Food Network the entire month of October.  And when you donate 5 or more non-perishable items, you will receive 15% off retail purchases at Xiphium (not valid with any other offers).  Come in and help our local community pantry.    

The Farmer's Market is winding down, but not before they bring you the finest in fall produce.  The last day for the market will be October 22.  So get your seasonal locally grown food while you can.  Fall, winter and butternut squash are available, tomatoes, apples, potatoes, peppers, fresh breads, lamb, beef and pork, brats, bacon and MORE. 

FALL HOURS ARE FROM 4:00pm - 7:30pm. 

We wind up the month with a Halloween celebration.  Mission Farms welcomes trick or treaters on Saturday, October 31.  Shops and restaurants will be looking for the witches, goblins, princesses and super heroes to stop in and say hello.  Trick or treat throughout the center from 3:00-6:00pm.
